The Terms and Conditions for the
Taunton Angling Association (TAA)
website and membership govern the use of their digital platforms and
conduct on their waters. As of January 2026, the following core terms apply based on their established Constitution and Bye-Laws.
1. Membership & Ticket Terms
- Validity Period: Annual memberships run from 16th June to 15th June of the following year.
- Requirement for Licensing: All members must be bona-fide holders of a valid Environment Agency (EA) Rod Licence.
- Non-Transferability: Permits and day tickets are strictly non-transferable.
- Proof of Purchase: For online bookings, anglers must carry their booking confirmation email (or a screenshot for areas with poor reception, like Wych Lodge) as proof of purchase for bailiffs.
2. Website Use & Data Privacy
- Acceptable Use: You must use this website only for lawful purposes. You are strictly prohibited from using the TAA website, including any contact forms or community features, to:
(a). Harass, abuse, or bully any person, including fellow members, club officials, or bailiffs.
(b). Post or transmit any material that is offensive, threatening, abusive, hateful, or inflammatory.
(c). Engage in anti-social behavior or cause "needless anxiety" to any other user.
(d). Discriminate based on race, sex, religion, disability, or sexual orientation. - Personal Use: Users may only use the website for personal, non-commercial purposes and must not modify any site material. Users should be responsible for their own account security and passwords.
- Data Protection: TAA adheres to UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Personal data is used solely for club administration and will not be disclosed to third parties.
- Account Termination: Requesting the deletion of personal data results in the immediate termination of membership.
3. On-Site Rules & Liability
- Liability Disclaimer: The Association admits no liability for any events, injury, or loss arising from members fishing in TAA waters.
- Environmental Conduct: Members are personally responsible for any damage caused. Wilfully disturbing wildlife or leaving litter can result in immediate expulsion.
- Equipment Restrictions:
- Hooks: Still waters (Wych Lodge, Maunsel Ponds, Pines Pond) require barbless, whisker, or micro-barb hooks; fully barbed hooks are banned.
- Prohibited Items: Bait boats, gaffs, and "automatic rod holder strike devices" (including the OMC Magic Twig) are strictly forbidden.
- Fish Care: Anglers must use fit-for-purpose unhooking tools and suitably sized unhooking mats.
4. Enforcement & Penalties
- Bailiff Authority: TAA bailiffs or any other member may require the production of a membership card or permit. Failure to provide proof allows the club to treat the individual as a trespasser.
- Rule Breaches: Contravention of rules can lead to a Council of Management hearing, resulting in warnings, one-year bans, or permanent expulsion.
